Which documents should I submit with a national visa application?

For people wishing to take up residency in Switzerland with their family members (e.g. spouses/partners and/or minor children):
If the personal apperance is needed (see information on the applicable requirement list), an appointment with the visa section of the Embassy of Switzerland in Wellington has to be applied online.
Applications of walk-in visitors are not accepted.The booking of an appointment is free of charge.
If you already have an appointment and need to change it, please contact the visa section at the Embassy of Switzerland in Wellington by email with the following data:
- Online ID
- Name, First name(s)
- Date of birth
- The new date and time you would like to come to the Embassy
Applications for a national visa are submitted to Switzerland for authorization. The processing time is between 8 and 12 weeks.
Applications have therefore to be presented on time.
The application will be forwarded to the competent cantonal authorities in Switzerland for a decision. The responsible representation can only issue the visa after approval by the competent authorities. The total processing time is approximately 8-12 weeks. This time is an approximation only and may vary considerably depending on the canton responsible and the elements of the application.
