Which documents should I submit with a visa application?
The following documents are in general required when applying for an entry visa for work in Switzerland:
- authorisation issued by the cantonal authority (original or copy)
- application for a long stay visa (visa D)
- valid passport (original)
- a recent photograph
- visa fees
If your stay in Switzerland does not exceed 90 days, please contact the Swiss representation.

If the personal apperance is needed (see information on the applicable requirement list), an appointment with the visa section of the Embassy of Switzerland in Wellington has to be applied online.
Applications of walk-in visitors are not accepted.If you already have an appointment and need to change it, please contact the Embassy of Switzerland in Wellington by phone (+64 4 472 15 93 – option: 4) with the following data:
- Online ID
- Name, First name(s)
- Date of birth
- The new date and time you would like to come to the Embassy
Applications for a national visa are submitted to Switzerland for authorization. The processing time is between 8 and 12 weeks.
Applications have therefore to be presented on time.In case an autorization has already being granted, the processing time is between 3 and 10 working days.
